I think this is wrong,
surely you design a site for people, then you optimise for se’s so that you get more people.
therefor you need to find the right balance. Sites designed for Search engines can be seen a mile away

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I think you have misunderstood the post. It doesn’t suggest design isn’t important and I agree that good design is vital.
The point I was trying to make – and perhaps failing to make very well – was in our experience people focus in on photographs because it’s sexy and easy. If you use a professional design company, making a website look great is a given. Creating great content and something worth linking to is hard and people shy away from it.
